FinalProof GxT Software

Proof Director Pro v3
Detailed Specifications

Proof Director Prov3 is software for driving the FinalProof GxT engine. The software uses spool folders configured by the Drop Folder Manager to support 1-bit tiff, 8-bit tiff composite and separated, and TIFF/IT P-1 file formats from various front-end systems. DeltaList files are also supported as an option.

The FinalProofGxT system is calibrated using gray reference data instead of dot percentages ensuring neutrals are always gray balanced. Verifying calibration requires reading black and three color gray for a delta E value less than two compared to the reference data.

The color gamut of FinalProofGxT is matched to FujiProof, Fuji’s analog proofing system, providing legacy in the proofing market. Color is managed by using Device Link Profiles(DLP). The dot gains are 17-22% for the Commercial LowGain DLP, formally CR-T4 and 22-28% for the Commercial DLP, formally CR-T3. The other DLP supplied is for SWOP standards. Each DLP can be manipulated using dot gain curves or selective color correction, a new feature in Proof Director Pro to meet the customer’s press conditions. The only data that isn’t color managed are 1-bit tiffs which retain the original screening from the Rip. All other data is color managed and screened using rulings from 65lpi to 300lpi.

Spot Colors are now simulated using a supplied six-color dot percent Pantone library using Green and Orange donors. Custom libraries can also be created to use dot percentages of any donor color expanding the gamut to accurately match more spot colors.

Additional features include a Density control using Micro-spot technology for the Packaging and Newspaper markets. This controls density in sixteen steps independently for CMYK. Improved drop folder capabilities increase automation by supporting up to twenty separations instead of the previous four separations. Proof Director Pro also provides optimization (job arrangement) of the media. This works well with single pages or for random scans (scatter proofing). For workflows consisting of eight-page signatures, Proof Director Pro automatically tiles the job into two four-up proofs. Although FinalProofGxT is a four-page proofer, an eight-page proof can be made by laminating two four-up proofs. The FinalProofGxT receiver, which is semi-transparent, makes it easy to backup a job creating an 8 or 16-page signature!
